
Four Philadelphia Union Players Receive International Call Ups

CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union today announced that four players have received international call ups from their respective federations ahead of the upcoming FIFA international window. Damion Lowe, Daniel Gazdag, Jose Martinez, and Richard Odada have joined their respective countries' teams for their FIFA international matches. Goalkeeper Andre Blake has been named to the Jamaican National Team, but will not travel due to injury. The national team call ups are in addition to the Homegrown trio who were called up to the Under-20 Men's National Team training camp last week. Jack McGlynn, Quinn Sullivan, and Brandan Craig joined the Under-20's in Marbella, Spain following the Union's match against Montreal.
Lowe will join the Jamaican National Team for a CONCACAF Nations League Group Stage match. He was last called up in November for an international friendly, where he served as team captain in the match against Cameroon that ended in a 1-1 draw on November 9, 2022, Lowe has earned 50 caps as the starting centerback for the team. Jamaica will play a CONCACAF Nations League Group Stage match against Mexico (Mar. 26, 8:00 p.m.).
Gazdag returns to the Hungarian National Team for the first round of the EURO 2024 Qualification Group Stage match. Gazdag has earned 18 caps, and most recently joined the squad in November of 2022 for two international friendlies. In his 18 appearances, Gazdag has scored four goals in World Cup qualifying matches against Andorra (Mar. 31, 2021), San Marino (Nov. 12, 2021), Poland (Nov. 15, 2021), and England (Jun. 14, 2022). Hungary will play a friendly against Estonia (Mar. 23, 2:30 p.m.) and a EURO 2024 Qualification Group Stage match against Bulgaria (Mar. 27, 2:45 p.m.).
Martinez joins the Venezuelan National Team for an international friendly match. Martinez, who has a total of 20 caps for La Vinotinto, recorded his first assist for the national team in a 1-1 draw against Ecuador on June 20, 2021. In his most recent call up, Martinez featured in two international friendly matches against Iceland (Sep. 22, 2022) and United Arab Emirates (Sep. 27, 2022), where he registered one assist. Venezuela will play friendlies against Saudi Arabia (Mar. 24, 3:00 p.m.) and Uzbekistan (Mar. 28, 2:00 p.m.).
Odada joins the Kenyan National Team for a pair of international friendly matches. Odada made his international debut on September 2, 2021, in a World Cup qualifier match against Uganda. With five appearances for the Harambee Stars, Odada scored his first goal in a 2-1 win over Rwanda on November 15, 2021. Kenya will play an international friendly against Iran on Mar. 28.
McGlynn, Sullivan, and Craig have joined U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team training camp in Marbella, Spain through March 28. The U.S. Under-20's are in the midst of their final training camp ahead of the upcoming 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Indonesia, and are set to face off against France U-21 (Mar. 22), England U-21 (Mar. 25), and Serbia U-21 (Mar. 28).
