Four Oil Kings Make NHL Central Scouting's Midterm Rankings

(Edmonton, AB) - The NHL Central Scouting Bureau released their Midterm Rankings today with four Edmonton Oil Kings players cracking the North American skaters list.

Headlining the rankings is Oil Kings rookie import forward Adam Jecho who is ranked 13th.

The Zlin, Czechia product joined the Oil Kings this season after being selected by the Club with the third overall pick at the 2023 CHL Import Draft.

The 6-foot-5, 201-pound centermen currently ranks 10th amongst all WHL rookie skaters in scoring with 25 points (11G, 14A) in only 27 games.

Later this month, he will play at the 2024 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in Moncton, New Brunswick as a member of Team Red. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 24 at 4:30 P.M. MT and will be broadcasted on TSN.

This past summer, he helped Czechia capture a silver medal at the 2023 Hlinka Gretzky Cup scoring two goals in five game at the tournament.

Two Oil Kings defencemen received rankings with Parker Alcos slotting in at 99 and Rhys Pederson at 200.

Alcos, a Port Moody, BC product is in his first full season in the WHL after being signed to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement following last year's training camp in which he attended as an undrafted free agent.

This season, he has notched nine points (1G, 8A), 23 penalty minutes and a -8 plus/minus rating through 37 games. His nine points make him the fifth highest scoring rookie defenceman in the WHL this season.

The 6-foot-3, 175-pound defenceman has played most of the season on the Oil Kings top defence paring with veteran rearguard Marc Lajoie and has logged significant minutes on both special teams units.

Pederson, a Stettler, AB, is in his second season in the WHL after being drafted by the Oil Kings in the fifth round, 90th overall, at the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.

This season, he has suited up in 20 games and has produced four assists, 12 penalty minutes and a -3 plus/minus rating.

The 6-foot-4, 193-pound defenceman has flourished into a reliable and physical shutdown defender.

Rounding out the Oil Kings on the list is second year forward Gavin Hodnett who is ranked 224th.

The Winnipeg, MB product was selected by the Oil Kings with the 19th overall pick at the 2021 WHL Prospects Draft.

This season, the 5-foot-8, 153-pound center leads the Oil Kings in scoring with 34 points (8G, 24A) in 31 games.

Last season, he became the first 16-year-old to be named the Oil Kings Most Valuable Player after leading the team in scoring with 43 points (12G, 31A) in 61 games.
