Carolina Mudcats News Release

Zebulon, NC --- The Cincinnati Reds have made a bevy of moves impacting their Double-A affiliate Carolina Mudcats prior to the final series of the season starting tonight against the Mississippi Braves.

LHP Travis Webb, RHP Brandon Hynick, C Yasmani Grandal and 1B Neftali Soto have all been promoted to Triple-A Louisville.

Soto, who was snubbed a position on the Southern League post-season all-star team, hit .272 while shattering the franchise record in 2011 with 30 homers, besting Josh Willingham's 2004 mark of 24. Soto hit three homers in his last five games to match league-honors with Southern League MVP Paul Goldschmidt's 30 homers for Mobile. Soto hit 30 homers, 76 RBI and missing a month in the first half with a fractured left wrist. Goldschmidt averaged a home run every 12.2 at-bats, while Soto averaged one every 12.6.

Webb was 1-7 with a 4.41 ERA, but flourished after a move to the bullpen in mid-May, carving out a 2.23 ERA with batters hitting just .226 against him.

Hynick, who spent time at Louisville and Charlotte earlier this season, had earned three wins in his last six appearances, and was 4-3 with a 3.67 composite ERA with Carolina.

Grandal, who is in his first year of professional baseball, has been soaring through the Reds' organization, starting this year in Bakersfield, hitting .301 over his 26 games with Carolina since a mid-season promotion. Grandal's .298 aggregate batting average is sixth in the Reds organization.

LHP Andrew Bowman, C Mark Fleury, IF Brodie Greene and OF Ryan LaMarre have all been promoted to Carolina from High-A Bakersfield. Bowman is a 5th rounder from the University of Nebraska; Fleury is a 4th from North Carolina; LaMarre a 2nd from Michigan and Greene a 4th from Texas A&M.
