*Biscuits Never Lead in Series Opener *Phillips shines in relief but Chattanooga wins 8-3

CHATTANOOGA, TN - Alex Castellanos' first inning two-run homer put the Chattanooga Lookouts (74-62) in front for good as the Biscuits (65-72) dropped the series opener by a final of 8-3 Thursday at AT&T Field.

A Henry Wrigley fifth inning homer brought the Biscuits as close as they'd get at 4-3, but the Lookouts put up four in the sixth against Jim Paduch (4-6) to pull away. Paduch's final pitch of the night was crushed for a three-run homer by Hector Gimenez to bring the game to its final score. He allowed eight runs total on 13 hits, the most allowed by a Biscuits pitcher in a game this year.

Paul Phillips was dominant in relief, fanning four over 2.1 no-hit innings.

Lookouts starter Stephen Fife (3-0) stayed in just long enough to log the win, giving up three runs on six hits over five innings while walking four and striking out only one. Chattanooga used four relievers to throw one hitless inning apiece.

Isaias Velasquex led the offense with a 2-4 night, extending his on-base streak to 17 games.

LH Kyle Lobstein faces off againset fellow lefty Michael Antonini Friday at 6:15.
