TODAY'S GAME: The Generals and Suns meet for the first time since April 17th today, opeing the final 5-game series of the season at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. It has been 1 year, 4 months and 20 days since Jackson last played in Jacksonville. The Diamond Jaxx opened the 2010 season in Jacksonville, taking 3 of 5 from the Suns, April 8-12. In this season's only series, Jacksonville won 4 of 5 from Jackson, April 13-17.

JACKSON GENERALS RECAP: - The Jackson Generals came up with a few big hits in their home finale on Tuesday at Pringles Park. The problem was the Huntsville Stars came up with more big hits that produced more runs. The Stars left with a 6-3 win to end the Generals' home season with a loss and officially knock them out of contention for the Southern League playoffs. The difference in the game proved to be the top of the eighth inning when the Stars put four runs on the board. The Generals tried to mount a comeback in the bottom of the eighth when Vinnie Catricala hit a home run, his fourth in the five-game series. Jesus Sanchez picked up the win on the mound for the Stars with two earned runs allowed on three hits and a walk while striking out three in 3 2/3 innings of work. Robert Wooten picked up his seventh save with a couple of strikeouts in the ninth inning. Edward Paredes picked up the loss with four earned runs allowed on four hits in 1/3 of an inning.

TODAY'S STARTER: RHP Andrew Carraway takes the mound today for the Generals in the opener against Jacksonville. Today is Andrew's 20th start of the season, which leads the team. Carraway ranks T-2nd in the SL in ERA, 3.46, 3rd in opponents batting average, .235 and 1st in WHIP, 1.06. Carraway leads the Generals team in wins, innings pitched, starts and strikeouts.

FOUR GENERALS HEADING TO THE AFL: Four current Jackson Generals will be heading to the heralded Arizona Fall League this October. RHP Steven Hensley, LHP Brian Moran, INF Nick Franklin and OF Chih-Hsien Chiang join former Generals catcher Adam Moore along with Mariners 2011 1st Round pick (#3 overall) LHP Danny Hultzen and RHP Forrest Snow. The Peoria Javelinas are made of minor league players from the Brewers, Cardinals, Mets, Mariners and Padres organizations. The Arizona Fall League begins its 20th season on Tuesday, October 4th.

CATRICALA HAVING MONSTER SEASON: Vinnie Catricala homered for 4th time in 5 games on Tuesday afternoon. He has hit safely in his last 5 games, batting .333 (6x18) with 6 runs scored, 2 doubles, 4 home runs and 7 RBI. Catricala has combined to bat .347 (175x504) with 92 runs scored, 73 XBH (2B -46, 3B - 4, HR - 23) and 102 RBI in 128 games split between A High Desert and AA Jackson. Among full-season minor leaguers he ranks 3rd in hits and doubles, 4th in XBH, 5th in batting average, 10th in RBI.

BASEBALL GROUNDS, IT'S BEEN A WHILE: It has been 507 days since the Jackson franchise last played at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. In the last game played in Jacksonville, the Diamond Jaxx fell to the Suns, 2-1. The lineup was: 2B Dustin Ackley, SS Carlos Triunfel, RF Carlos Peguero, DH Mike Wilson, C Guillermo Quiroz, 3B Alex Liddi, LF Joe Dunigan, 1B Leury Bonilla, CF Kuo Hui Lo and starting pitcher RHP Michael Pineda. None of which are on the current 24-man active roster. Pineda and Ackley are key parts of the Seattle Mariners 2011 team.

MORAN EXTENDS SCORELESS STREAK: Brian Moran extended his scoreless inning streak to 16.2 innings in last 11 relief appearances. During this stretch he limited opponents to a .190 average (11x58), while walking 5 and striking out 20. Brian is 3-1 with a 1.60 ERA in 24 appearances in the 2nd half as opposed to a 2-2 mark, with a 8.51 ERA in 19 apperances.

MAN THESE GUYS ARE YOUNG: Generals' infielders Gabriel Noriega, Nick Franklin and Francisco Martinez are each just 20 years old...Martinez and Noriega will turn 21 in September while Franklin, the youngest on the roster will not turn 21 until February of 2012.

TODAY IN BASEBALL HISTORY: 1964 - Southpaw relief pitcher Masanori Murakami becomes the first Major League player from Japan. He debuts in a 4-1 San Francisco loss at New York. His first eleven innings will be scoreless ones.
