Forward Andrew Cherniwchan Promoted to AHL

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 22 seasons of hockey in the Lowcountry, announced today that forward Andrew Cherniwchan has been loaned to the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Cherniwchan, 25, has 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 11 games with the Stingrays this season including two goals and three assists in his last three games. The Hinton, Alberta, native began the season in camp the Bruins before being picking up by the Springfield Falcons and adding three points (two goals, one assist) in 12 contests.

Last season, Cherniwchan started with the Stingrays netting 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) through 17 games before earning a call up to the Bruins where he appeared in 30 games, potting four goals and five assists for nine points. In 12 postseason contests he picked up a goal and two assists.

The Stingrays continue a four-game in five-day stretch on Tuesday, December 30 against the Greenville Road Warriors at 7:00 p.m. at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina.
