Stockton Thunder News Release
The Thunder have been loaned forward Peter Sivak from the Bridgeport Sound Tigers while the New York Islanders have loaned goalie Kent Simpson to the Thunder.
Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have been loaned Peter Sivak by the Sound Tigers while goaltender Kent Simpson has been loaned to the team via the Islanders.
Sivak, 32, was recalled from loan back on December 8 in the midst of an eight game point streak that has seen Sivak score 5 goals and chip in 6 assists. Sivak has played a total of 17 games in his first season with the Thunder, registering a total of 7 goals and 11 assists.
Sivak played in three contests while in Bridgeport for the second time this season, bringing his AHL games total to five this season, eclipsing his games played from a season ago while with the Abbotsford Heat (3 games played) but four behind his career high of 9 games played with the Worcester Sharks in 2012-13.
Simpson, 22, is loaned to the Thunder after he was called up on Christmas Day due to an injury to Islanders goaltender Jaroslav Halak that saw the netminder placed retroactively on the injured reserve list. Simpson backed up David Leggio on Saturday and watched Leggio record a 19 save shutout and saw former Thunder players Colin McDonald and Sebastian Collberg score three of the 5 goals in a Bridgeport win over the Wilkes-Barre/ Scranton Penguins. This year Simpson has posted a 5-5-1 record with the Colorado Eagles and Stockton Thunder.
