Second

The Mallards remain in second place in the EHCL's Central Division, two points ahead of the third place Wichita Thunder and Tulsa Oilers.

Home Sweet Home

Last night's loss was just the Mallards' second regulation defeat in their last nine home games (6-2-1).

On the Road

The Mallards have won three straight road games.

Red Light District

The Mallards last night allowed four (non-shootout) goals for just the third time in their last 19 games. They are fifth in the ECHL in goals against per game (2.7).

Special Teams

The Mallards went 2-for-5 on the power play last night and now rank thirteenth in the ECHL on the man advantage (17.7 percent). The Mallards have gone 9-for-9 on the penalty kill in their last two games. The Mallards are tied for tenth in the league in penalty killing (83.3 percent).

Tight

Last night's setback was the Mallards' third straight one-goal game.

Outgunned

The Mallards fell last night despite outshooting the opposition (35-31) for the first time in four games.

Decentralized

Tonight's game is just the Mallards' third against a foe from outside the Central Division. The Mallards dropped a pair of games to the Cincinnati Cyclones- the Komets' North Division rivals- October 31 and November 1. The Mallards play their fourth and final inter-division game Wednesday night in Evansville.

Beast Mode

The Mallards last night hosted the Beast for the fifth time in 12 days. The Mallards went 3-2-0 over those five games.

Finally

Last Monday's win ended the Mallards' eight game (0-6-2) road winless streak against the Mavericks. The victory was the Mallards' first at the Independence Events Center since they defeated the Mavs 7-2 on March 8, 2013.

Shootout

With last Monday's win the Mallards improved to 4-2 in the shootout this season. They are now 4-5 in games decided in either overtime or the shootout.
