Former Spartan Boike Returns as Crouse Goes on DL

LANSING, Mich. - The Lansing Lugnuts, in conjunction with the Toronto Blue Jays, announced Sunday that outfielder Eli Boike has returned to the Lugnuts' active roster from Bluefield (Rookie, Appalachian League) with fellow outfielder Michael Crouse placed on the 7-day Disabled List retroactive to August 6th.

Boike, 23, who played for Michigan State from 2007-2010, previously played nine games for the Lugnuts from July 6th-20th, batting .219 (7-for-32) with nine walks for a .375 on-base percentage. In nine games with the Bluefield Blue Jays, the Clinton Township native batted .304 (7-for-23) with a .385 OBP.

Crouse, 20, strained his quad while hustling out a double on Friday night vs. South Bend. A midseason Eastern League All-Star, Crouse leads the Lugnuts with 13 home runs and 37 stolen bases in 96 games.

The Lugnuts' official roster is attached, comprising 24 active players (one shy of the minimum), five players on the Disabled List and one player on the Temporarily Inactive List.
