Quad Cities River Bandits News Release

After the Bandits took the series opener on Saturday night, the Beloit Snappers bounced back to beat the River Bandits 8-2 at Pohlman Field on Sunday.

The Bandits took a 2-0 lead with single runs in the third and fourth innings. The two runs were all the Bandits would muster on the afternoon. Beloit started their attack in the fourth with a run off Bandit starter Anthony Ferrara (10-6). Ferrara had retired the first nine batters he faced before Daniel Santana singled to lead off the fourth inning. He later scored on an RBI single by Jairo Perez.

They added two more runs in the fifth against Ferrara. Daniel Ortiz led the inning off with a solo home run and Adam Bryant later singled home Tyler Grimes to put the Snappers up for good.

Ferrara ended up getting charged with four runs on nine hits over six innings. Though he took the loss, he didn't issue any walks and struck out four. Hector Corpus allowed four more runs out of the bullpen in the seventh. Manuel Soliman (6-8) picked up the win for Beloit. Over five innings, he allowed just the two runs on six hits. He walked four and struck out four over that span.

Offensively, Kolten Wong had the only multi-hit game on the day for the Bandits with his 2-for-4 performance.

The two teams continue the series on Monday when the River Bandits will send lefty Ryan Copeland (4-1, 3.10) to the mound against Snappers right-hander A.J. Achter (3-5, 4.14). First pitch is set for 7:00 at Pohlman Field.
