MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AUGUST 4, 2015) -- On Tuesday, the Texas Rangers purchased the contract of former Pelican and 2015 Triple-A Round Rock Express outfielder, Ryan Strausborger. Strausborger played with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Class A-Advanced affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, during the 2011 season as a Rangers farmhand. In a corresponding move, the Rangers have optioned outfielder Leonys Martin to Triple-A Round Rock. Strausborger is the ninth former Pelicans player to make the Major Leagues for the first time this season, and he is the 134th all-time to make it to the majors after his time on the Grand Stand.
Strausborger, 27, was a 2011 Carolina League Midseason and Year-End All-Star, and his nine triples are tied for the ninth-most all-time in Pelicans franchise history.
