RHP Aaron Wilkerson Heads up to Portland

The Boston Red Sox have transferred Salem RHP Aaron Wilkerson to Double-A Portland. There is no corresponding move at this time.

Wilkerson was signed by Boston in 2014 from the Grand Prairie Air Hogs of the independent American Association. He made his organizational debut with the Lowell Spinners, starting eight games and tallying a 5-1 record with an ERA of 1.62. Wilkerson began the 2015 season with Low-A Greenville and was promoted to Salem on May 4. Over 17 appearances and 12 starts with the Red Sox, he was 7-2 with a 2.96 ERA and 85 strikeouts in 79 innings pitched. He last appeared on July 30 in Lynchburg and went four innings with three runs allowed on four hits. This will be Wilkerson's first appearance in Double-A. He becomes the 14th member of the 2015 Salem Sox to be promoted to the Portland Sea Dogs.

The Red Sox roster now sits at 24, one below the league maximum, with five players on the disabled list.
