Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Estero, FL- The Kalamazoo Wings four-game road swing didn't start as planned, as the K-Wings give up three goals in the third period in a 3-2 defeat to the Florida Everblades.

Surrendering a team season-high for penalty minutes in a period with 17, the K-Wings somehow kept the Everblades from getting on the board in the opening 20 minutes. A majority of the minutes occurred midway in the period when defenseman Mitch Versteeg was whistled for slew footing, which earned Versteeg five minutes for the major and a game-misconduct.

Kalamazoo earned the first goal of the defensive battle 7:34 into the second period, when Kory Karlander found Jordan Fulton open in front of the net, for the rookies 3rd goal of the season. The goal extended the point streaks of Karlander and Fulton four games.

Florida's Alex Imbeault (7th, 8th) continued his scoring magic netting two goals in the third period to pull the 'Blades ahead 2-1. Imbeault, who now leads the league with eight goals, has scored a goal in four straight games and has earned points in five in a row.

A turnover behind the Everblades net tied the game midway in the period, as Fulton picked up the loose puck and pass it to Karlander (4th), who extended his goal-streak to four games.

However, Florida wouldn't be denied, with less than eight minutes remaining in the game, a K-Wings neutral zone turnover turned into a three-on-one odd man rush for the Everblades that was cashed in on by Alex Hutchings (1st).

Kalamazoo and Florida will square off again this Friday night at the Germain Arena with a start time of 7:30 p.m.
