Forney Re-Assigned, Bendickson Called Up

Forward Michael Forney has been reassigned to the Gwinnett Gladiators from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League by the Atlanta Thrashers. Also, rookie forward Aaron Bendickson has been called up to AHL Rochester.

Forney, 22, spent a majority of last season in Gwinnett, racking up 26 points in 63 games (11 goals, 15 assists). He also played three games for Chicago in the AHL and began this season with the Wolves before being assigned to Gwinnett. He had an assist in four games with Chicago this season.

The Thief River Falls, Minnesota native was the Thrashers third choice, 80th overall, in the 2006 entry draft.

Bendickson, 24, made his pro debut with the Gladiators on October 15th, scoring a goal and adding an assist. Through four games he was tied for the league lead in points with nine (two goals, seven assists).

Bendickson skated with the University of Wisconsin for the previous four seasons. He had his best collegiate season last year with the Badgers and earned 22 points (12 goals, 10 assists) in 43 games. In his four year collegiate career, Bendickson recorded 40 points (20 goals, 20 assists) in 147 games with the Badgers.

The Gladiators return to action on Thursday, October 28th at Trenton at 7:05 p.m. The Gladiators are the AA affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
