Florida Everblades Weekly Recap: Everblades to Host a Pair of Division Rivals this Week

Friday, October 19: Orlando - 8 at Florida - 2

Orlando raced out to a commanding 8-0 through the first 40 minutes of play. Ryan Cruthers scored twice, while Matt Sisca finished with four assists in the contest. The Everblades settled down in the third, receiving goals from Justin Shugg and Leigh Salters. The win was the first for the Solar Bears in their ECHL team history.

Saturday, October 20: Florida - 3 at Orlando - 4 (Shootout)

After a difficult defeat the previous night, the Everblades hit the road and put forth a solid effort in Orlando in their inaugural home game. The two teams traded off goals in the first period as Brandon MacLean and Matt Beca scored for the 'Blades, and matt Sisca and Michael Wilson lit the lamp for the Solar Bears. Orlando took the lead in the second on a goal by Simon Danis-Pepin, but the Everblades tied just 90 seconds into the third on Matt Beca's second tally of the game.

Pat Nagle made some game saving stops down the stretch to force overtime. The game would be decided in the shootout, which did not feature a single goal until the tenth round. The shootout continued on until the twelfth round, and Sean Lorenz scored the lone goal in the round, and sealed the 4-3 shootout victory in front of announced crowd of 9,666 at the Amway Center.

'Blades Bites

- The Everblades 8-2 loss to the Orlando Solar Bears last Friday, snapped a 15-game home wining streak dating back to last season (including playoffs)

- On Friday, the Everblades retired the #9 jersey of Ernie Hartlieb. No player has appeared in more Everblades games than Hartlieb, who played in 350 contests from 2004-2011. Ernie ranks high on many all-time team records, which includes being tied for first in power play goals (33), third in points (257), third in assists (171), fifth in goals (86) and fifth in penalty minutes (345).

Saturday, October 27, 7:00 p.m. vs. Greenville Road Warriors --- Sweets in the Suites - Kids in costume can Trick or Treat in the luxury suites during the first intermission. Fans in costume can receive a $10 ticket to the game! McDonald's tailgate party with live much and bounce houses starts at 5:00 pm.
