Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators earned their first win of the year with a 4-3 win to the Greenville Road Warriors on Sunday. The Gladiators have started the season with a 1-2-1-0 record with 3 points and are in 5th in the South Division and ranked 11th in the Eastern Conference.

Evansville Preview: The Evansville Icemen join the North Division of the ECHL for the first season after being in the IHL. Evansville has a record of 0-2-0-1 and is ranked 13th in the Eastern Conference and 5th in the North Division. Despite it being Evansville's first season in the ECHL, they are led by Brett Sonne who has scored six points this season (three goals, three assist) and rookie goalies Paul Karpowich, who has played in two games with a 0.865 save percentage and Rob Madore, who also played in two games and has a save percent of 0.889.

Fort Wayne Preview: Fort Wayne Komets joined the ECHL this season and are competing in the North Division. The Komets are ranked 3rd in the North Division and 7th in the Eastern Conference after playing four games with a record of 2-1-0-1. The Fort Wayne Komets are led by Rookie Forward Brandon Marino who has eight points (three goals, five assists). They also have rookie goalie Ken Reiter who has 71 saves in three games played.

Friday October 19: Ontario 4, Gwinnett 2 - L
"ªThe Ontario Reign beat the Gladiators 4-2 in the first home game of the season. Center C.J. Stretch lead the Reign to the win over Gwinnett. Marietta native Doug Jones picked up his first two goals of the season for Gwinnett. Jean-Francois Berube returns to the Reign for his second season making 29 saves against the Gladiators.
Saturday October 20: Greenville 3, Gwinnett 2 - OTL
The Greenville Road Warriors defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators in overtime 3-2. Casey Pierro-Zabotel in his fourth ECHL season scored the first goal of the game on a power play, which put the Gladiators on top and it was also his first goal of the season. Shayne Weibe scored the second goal of the game for Greenville, which tied the score and sent the game into overtime. Forward Brandon Wong scored the game-winning goal for the Road Warriors which was also his third goal of the season.
Sunday October 21: Gwinnett 4, Greenville 3 - W
The Gladiators earned a victory over the Greenville Road Warriors after being defeated the previous night. Forward Brandon Wong scored the first goal of the game for the Greenville Road Warriors putting them on top. Gladiators trailed 2-0 for one period before Casey Pierro-Zabotel put the Gladiators on the board in the second period. Forward Chris Clackson scored the game-winning goal in the third period leading the Gladiators to a 4-3 win.
News & Notes:
Matching is Output: Forward Doug Jones had two goals in Friday night's 4-2 loss to Ontario, two assists on Sunday against Greenville, and also had two assists last weekend in South Carolina for six points on the year. His six points in four games exceeds his total in five games last season with the Gladiators.
Assigned: Seven players on the Gladiators roster have been assigned to the team from the National Hockey League or the America Hockey League. Louis Domingue, Mike Lee and Justin Weller have all been assigned from NHL Phoenix while Corey Fienhage were assigned by AHL Rochester and Maxime Villemaire and Evan Bloodoff come to Gwinnett from AHL Portland Pirates.
Adding to this Total: Gladiators forward Andy Brandt set the all time Gladiators team record for most games played in a Gladiators career. The Wausau, Wisconsin native set the record as he passed Brad Schell's 262 career games in a Gwinnett jersey. Brandt currently sits at 287 career games with Gwinnett and will add to that total throughout the season.
Point Streak: Forward Casey Pierro-Zabotel has been on a four game point streak this season. At Friday's game he earned two assists against the Ontario Reign, while Saturday he scored one goal and Sunday he scored two goals against the Greenville Road Warriors. He has totaled fivepoints in the last four games with at least one point in each game.
First Win of the Season: Gladiators earned their first win of the season on Sunday against Greenville after losing in overtime Saturday night. Gwinnett started out trailing 0-3 in the second period but came from behind for the 4-3 win in the third period. The last time the Gladiators trailed by three goals and won was 3/4/12 against Trenton where they trailed 4-1 and won 5-4. Gwinnett has never trailed by more than 3 goals and won a game.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
