Recapping Last Week:

10/19 vs. Wheeling: W 3-2

The Jackals got the drop on the Nailers in the first period thanks to Artem Demkov jamming home a Dustin Gazley pass just over 13 minutes into the game. Wheeling struck back quickly with a breakaway goal by Bobby Farnham 27 seconds into the middle frame. The game remained deadlocked for most of the second, but a late offensive surge by the Jackals broke it open. Jimmy Martin restored Elmira's lead with his first goal of the season at 17:46 then Demkov and Danny New set up a Dustin Gazley power play goal with 36 seconds left in the period. Jordon Southorn's first goal of the season, on the power play, at 2:11 of the third stretched the advantage to three, but Wheeling's Tom Kuhnackl made it a two-goal game again 3:19 later. That was the last puck that got past goalie Nathan Lawson as he thwarted 32 shots in his Jackals debut for the win.

10/20 vs. Wheeling: W 5-0

Thirty saves earned Marc Cheverie his fifth career shutout and a 3-for-6 effort on the power play paced Elmira's offense in the win. For the second straight game Artem Demkov potted the first goal of the game. This time around he took a breakaway pass from Dustin Gazley and squeezed a shot through the pads of Scott Darling. Darling then turned a puck over to Louie Caporusso and the second-year Jackal made quick work of the gift and turned it into his first goal of the season. The 2-0 lead ballooned to 5-0 within a span of eight minutes and three seconds of the second period. Demkov netted a power play goal at 6:03 then set up Andrew Rowe's first power play goal at at 8:30. Rowe followed on at 14:00 to cap the scoring. Wheeling launched 10 shots at Cheverie in the third but was turned away each time.
