Fletcher's Four-Hit Night Carries Cougars

Geneva, Illinois - Dominic Fletcher went 4-for-4 and finished a triple shy of the cycle in the Kane County Cougars (70-52, 35-18) 4-3 win over the Peoria Chiefs (46-76, 16-37) on Friday night in front of 7,404 fans at Northwestern Medicine Field. One of Fletcher's four hits was a two-run homer, his fifth long ball of the year.

The Chiefs jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning. Imeldo Diaz made it 1-0 with an RBI fielder's choice, followed by Carlos Soto's sacrifice fly. The final run of the inning featured Delvin Perez stealing home. The Cougars grabbed a run back in the bottom of the inning on Joey Rose's RBI double.

In the fifth, with one man on, Fletcher unloaded the game-tying blast over the right field wall. Two batters later, Zack Shannon broke the tie with an RBI single.

Luis Frias (2-1) earned the win with five innings of three-run ball. Jackson Goddard hung three 'zeroes' out of the bullpen. Jose Cuas (7) stranded the tying run at third in the ninth to earn the save. Peoria starter Mike Brettell (4-9) was tagged with the loss after five innings of four-run ball.
