January 7, 2011 - NBA G League (G League)
Utah Flash News Release

After a well-fought battle, the Utah Flash fell short to the Reno Bighorns 95-82 at home in front of 5,450 fans. Donald Sloan led his team with 20 points, and five Bighorns scored in double figures.

The first quarter set the premise for the rest of the game, with both teams playing aggressively. During the first quarter, the Flash were led by Pape Sy with eight points, while Brandon Costner led in rebounds with four. Patrick Ewing, Jr. and Donald Sloan led Reno with six points each.

Reno led at the end of the first half 40-38. Donald Sloan led the Bighorns with 12 points. The Flash were led by Orien Greene with nine points. The game momentum was evenly distributed between both teams causing 10 lead changes during the first half.

The Flash held the lead most of the third quarter, but lost it towards the end. Brandon Costner tied the game with less than ten seconds making it 59-all. After outscoring the Flash in the first half, the Bighorns fell short to the Flash 21-19 in the third quarter.

The Bighorns made a run during the fourth quarter solidifying their lead and eventual win. They outscored the Flash 36-23 in the fourth quarter. Utah, who are experiencing recent roster changes, plan to take tonight's fourth quarter loss seriously, preparing for tomorrow's second game against the Bighorns.

"We'll take a look at the fourth quarter, particularly where we had some meltdowns," Head Coach Kevin Young said. "Anytime you got guys like they do that have experience at a high level it pays dividends especially in a fourth quarter when it's crunch time. They have a nice team. They do a good job with their personnel, but I feel like if our team comes in and plays with energy on both ends we can beat any team on any night."

The Flash were led by Orien Greene with 19 points, followed by first time starter, Ryan Thompson with 16 points. Lance Allred led in rebounds with 10 boards. Pape Sy, who's on assignment from the Atlanta Hawks had eight points, five rebounds and one assist on the night. Following Sloan, Ewing, Jr. had the only double-double in the game with 18 points and 14 rebounds

The Flash will host the Bighorns again tomorrow night at 7 P.M. at the UCCU Events Center in Orem, Utah. Tickets are available by calling (801) 434-HOOP (4667).
