Erie BayHawks News Release

Erie, Pennsylvania, Friday, January 7, 2011 - The Erie BayHawks defeated the Sioux Falls Skyforce, 97-91 on Friday night in front of 3,593 fans at Tullio arena. Ivan Johnson led the Erie attack with 25 points in a game which all nine active BayHawks players scored.

Playing without newly acquired players Blake Ahearn and Garrett Temple, who were invited to an NBA workout today, the BayHawks got off to sluggish start. Erie trailed by as many as 7 in first quarter before recovering to end the first frame with a one-point lead on a Tasheed Carr layup near the end of the quarter. Erie's lead grew to as many as nine on two consecutive monster dunks by Toronto Raptors assignee Solomon Alabi. Erie maintained a lead throughout the entire quarter and finished the half up five, 50-45.

A back-and-forth third quarter meant a slim four-point margin for the home team heading in to what was an exciting final frame.

The fourth quarter saw eight lead changes as the Skyforce fought to gain control of the game. But with 14 seconds on the clock and a three-point game, a Nate Linhart steal and quick outlet to Dawan Rabinson helped seal the deal for Erie as Robinson buried two free throws to move the BayHawks to 12-6.

Erie had five players score in double figures led by Johnson's 25 points, Robinson chipped in 14, Kyle Spain had 13, and both Linhart and Tasmin Mitchell put away 11 a piece.

The Skyforce (2-13) were led by Raymond Sykes who scored 20 points, Anthony Mason had the game's only double-double by dropping in 16 and grabbing 11 rebounds, Dexter Pittman (on assignment from the Miami Heat) added 15, and Keaton Grant notched 14.

The BayHawks host the Maine Red Claws on Sunday at 2:00 pm ET.
