2011 NBA DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE SHOWCASE TIPS OFF MONDAY

The 2011 NBA Development League Showcase, the NBA's premier in-season basketball scouting event, tips off its 16-game schedule on Monday, Jan. 10, and runs through Thursday, Jan. 13, at the South Padre Island Convention Centre in South Padre Island, Texas. The seventh annual Showcase, hosted by South Padre Island, will feature all 16 NBA D-League teams playing two games each over a four-day schedule in front of professional scouts from all 30 NBA teams. Four games will be played on each day of the Showcase, with the Slam Dunk and Three-Point Contests immediately following play on Wednesday, Jan. 12. The Showcase begins at 12:00 p.m. ET on Jan. 10, and all 16 games can be seen live on TV or over the internet.

MIAMI HEAT REASSIGNS DEXTER PITTMAN TO NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE SIOUX FALLS SKYFORCE

Miami Heat center Dexter Pittman was reassigned to the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Heat's NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced yesterday. The assignment marks the 27th time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the second assignment for Pittman, a rookie out of Texas. Pittman (6-11, 308) was first assigned to Sioux Falls on Nov. 26, and averaged 16.6 points and 9.0 rebounds in eight games. He has not appeared in any regular season games for the Heat this season. Miami selected Pittman in the second round (32nd overall) in the 2010 NBA Draft. Over a four-year career at Texas, Pittman averaged 6.6 points and 4.0 rebounds in 134 games, setting the school's all-time record for career field goal percentage (.623).

WASHINGTON WIZARDS ASSIGN HAMADY NDIAYE TO NBA D-LEAGUE AFFILIATE DAKOTA WIZARDS

Washington Wizards center Hamady Ndiaye was assigned to the Dakota Wizards, Washington's NBA Development League affiliate, it was announced yesterday. The assignment marks the 28th time in the 2010-11 season an NBA player has been assigned to an NBA D-League affiliate, and it is the first assignment for Ndiaye, a rookie out of Rutgers. Ndiaye (7-0, 235) has appeared in four games this season with Washington. He was selected in the second round (56th overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves, and was acquired by Washington in a draft-night swap. In four years at Rutgers, Ndiaye set the school record for career blocks with 358. He was named the Big East Defensive Player of the Year as a senior in 2009-10.

DeShawn Sims had 26 points and seven rebounds to lead Maine over Dakota. Tiny Gallon added 13 points and a game-high 16 rebounds for the Red Claws. Renaldo Major had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Dakota.

Nine players with NBA D-League experience competed in two NBA games last night, none as starters.

Dallas' Jose Juan Barea scored 14 points in 22 minutes off the bench in a loss to Oklahoma City.
