Fisher Cats turn back Sea Dogs 6-4 as Overbay hits grand slam

Manchester, NH - 1B Lyle Overbay went 2-for-4 with 5 RBI's including a grand slam as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats topped the Portland Sea Dogs 6-4 Saturday night before a standing room only crowd of 7,424 Saturday night in Manchester.

Overbay, on a rehab assignment from the Toronto Blue Jays after suffering a broken bone in his hand June 3 on a hit-by-pitch, hit the grand slam off Kyle Jackson (3-5) and rallied New Hampshire to a 6-3 lead in the fifth inning. It was the RELCO Enlightening Play of the Game.

Overbay also had an RBI single in the fourth inning off Portland starter Michael Bowden on a night in which the Fisher Cats went passed the 1,000,000 mark in total attendance.

The Sea Dogs (41-43) took an early 3-0 lead against New Hampshire starter Eric Fowler. Andrew Pinckney's 2-run homer in the 3rd made it 2-0 and Brian Pritz added an RBI in the 4th.

Fowler (2-1) worked 5 innings plus a batter, allowing five hits and 3 runs. He walked three and struck out 1.

Tracy Thorpe got the final five outs to pick up his 6th save for New Hampshire (47-39).

Sergio Santos (2-for-3, BB) had an RBI single for the Fisher Cats and Chip Cannon and David Smith each added two hits for the Fisher Cats.

The series with Portland continues Sunday afternoon with LHP Daniel Haigwood (2-4, 4.69) on the mound for the Sea Dogs against New Hampshire RHP Kyle Yates (5-4, 4.56).
