AKRON -- The Akron Aeros (53-35) and the Erie SeaWolves (47-39) battled through nine innings and into extra-innings before the SeaWolves scored two in the tenth to take the first of three games, 7-5 against Akron before the teams break for the All-Star game.

The Aeros launched three home runs, including two by Trevor Crowe, which extended his hitting streak to 14-games. However, a two-run home run in the top of the tenth with two outs by Steve Torrealba secured the win for Erie.

Erie took an early 3-1 lead in the second inning off of Akron All-Star, Reid Santos. The SeaWolves plated three runs on three hits and an Akron error in the second, the only runs Santos allowed over five innings. He struck out five and walked only one in the no decision start.

The Aeros scored single runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings to tie the game at 4-4. Erie reclaimed a one-run lead in the sixth, but Akron once again tied the game in the bottom of the eighth leading the two teams into extra innings.

Jim Ed Warden pitched two strong innings in the loss, making just the one mistake with two outs to Torrealba. Randor Bierd was credited with the win, despite giving up the tying run in the eighth
