Akron Aeros Are 14,935 Fans Away From Five Million

July 7, 2007 - Eastern League (EL1)
Akron RubberDucks News Release

AKRON -- The Akron Aeros are just 14,935 fans away from welcoming its five millionth fan to Canal Park for a baseball game. One lucky fan will enter the park some time this weekend and will receive a great prize package and will represent all five million fans as the Aeros say thank you to the local communities for all of their support over the last ten seasons.

The Aeros have had 196,929 fans enter Canal Park so far this season to watch them continue to play some of the best baseball in the Eastern League. Akron has won the League championship twice in the last four years and currently stand in first place in the Southern Division.

The lucky fan that comes through the gate will be identified by the Aeros staff, but not be told or recognized until after the second inning of the game. However, that fan will be surprised to win season-tickets for the entire 2008 season, a free night in one of the Aeros suites this season with limo transportation to and from the game, a team-signed jersey recognizing them as the five millionth fan and much more!

Over 400,000 fans have attended games at Canal Park every single season since it opened in 1997. In 1998, a record 531,811 (including playoffs) watched the Aeros compete in downtown Akron. Since the stadium opened, the Aeros have averaged 467,591 fans a season.
