Fisher Cats Rally Late to Beat Yard Goats

Manchester, NH - The Yard Goats had a 2-1 lead through seven innings but in the eighth the Fisher Cats scored five runs and New Hampshire defeated Hartford 6-2 on Thursday evening at Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester, New Hampshire. New Hampshire scored the five runs on three hits, one walk, a wild pitch, and an error. Yard Goats starter Nick Bush pitched five solid innings and allowed just one run on six hits with two walks and six strikeouts and left with the lead. Coco Montes and Michael Toglia each had RBI doubles for Hartford.

The Yard Goats scored the two runs on three doubles in the fourth inning to take a 2-0 lead off New Hampshire starting pitcher, and former Major League hurler Casey Lawrence. Casey Golden started the rally with a leadoff double down the left field line. Two batters later Coco Montes cracked his league leading 26th double, scoring Golden, and giving Hartford a 1-0 lead. Michael Toglia followed with a double to right center field, his first hit in Double-A, and Montes scored from second base making it a 2-0 game.

Yard Goats starting pitcher Nick Bush hurled four scoreless innings before yielding a run in the fifth inning. The lefty retired seven straight batters between the second and fourth innings and stranded five runners over that time. But, the Fisher Cats scored a run in the fifth inning as Vinny Capra came up with a two-out single to make it a 2-1 game.

It was a 2-1 game going to the eighth inning but the Fisher Cats scored five runs to take a 6-2 lead. Demi Orimoloye had a one-out double and scored on an error tying the game at 2-2. Reggie Pruitt, who walked, scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch. The Fisher Cats got a two-run infield single by Vinny Capra to make it 5-1 and Jordan Groshans finished the rally with an RBI double.

The Yard Goats continue the six-game series against the Fisher Cats on Friday evening (7:05) in Manchester, New Hampshire against the Fisher Cats. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9 FM and newsradio1410.iheart.com and the video stream available on MiLB.TV.
