Fisher Becomes 32nd Former Dragon to Reach Big Leagues

Dayton, Ohio-Former Dayton Dragons pitcher Carlos Fisher was promoted to the Major Leagues today by the Cincinnati Reds. Fisher pitched for the Dragons in 2006 and becomes the 32nd former Dragons player to reach the big leagues.

Fisher had spent the first six weeks of the 2009 season with the Reds Triple-A affiliate, the Louisville Bats. Fisher made 13 appearances for the Bats, all in relief, and went 2-0 with a 2.00 earned run average (18 IP, 11 H, 4 BB, 21 SO).

Fisher was a starting pitcher for the Dragons in 2006 on a club that also included current Reds Jay Bruce, Johnny Cueto, Adam Rosales, and Paul Janish. Fisher made 27 starts for the Dragons, going 12-5 with a 2.76 earned run average. He will wear uniform #46 for the Reds.

The Reds today also promoted former Dragons pitcher Homer Bailey, who has previous big league experience in 2007 and 2008, along with outfielder Jonny Gomes.

Pitcher Edinson Volquez was placed on the disabled list. Pitcher Ramon Ramirez was optioned to Louisville. Outfielder Darnell McDonald was designated for assignment.

The Dragons, who have won five of their last six games, play at Quad Cities tonight at 8:00 p.m. (EDT). The next home game at Fifth Third Field is Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. vs. Wisconsin.
