Lansing Lugnuts News Release

May 22, 2009 -- The Lansing Lugnuts announced that right-handed pitcher Chad Beck has been transferred to Lansing from Dunedin (A-Advanced, Florida State League), with right-handed pitcher Mike Barbara given his release.

Beck, 24, was acquired by the Toronto Blue Jays from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for David Eckstein on September 1, 2008. He has pitched in the Midwest League as a member of the South Bend Silver Hawks each of the past two seasons.

In nine relief appearances for the Dunedin Blue Jays in 2009, Beck had posted an ERA of 4.35 in 10.1 innings. He is scheduled to start Lansing's series opener on Saturday night at Cedar Rapids.

The current Lugnuts official roster is attached, consisting of 25 active players and one on the Disabled List. Beck does not yet have an assigned uniform number; an updated roster will be sent out when one is given to him.
