WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Goldeyes control their own playoff destiny heading into the final week of the season, setting up four crucial games against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks in the last home series of the regular season at Shaw Park.
Streaking RedHawks: The 2011 season has been a disappointment for Fargo, as they've sunk to third in the North Divison. However, the team is building momentum to end the summer. The RedHawks have won nine of their last 11 games, including a series sweep of the St. Paul Saints at home. The Goldeyes will be in tough against their rivals, who are looking to play spoiler to Winnipeg's playoff aspirations.
Field of Dreams Awareness Night: Since its inception in 1995, the Winnipeg Goldeyes Field of Dreams Foundation has raised more than a million dollars for children's charities in Manitoba. Come out on tonight and see this year's recipients and make your own donation! Also, the foundation will be giving out three $1,000 scholarships for Baseball Manitoba to deserving student athletes.
Thanks to Manitoba Pork, there will also be a BBQ on the Promenade pre-game. Fans can come early and get a delicious BBQ pork on a bun sandwich with a pop for just $5 with net proceeds going to the Field of Dreams foundation!
Second Half Team Photo Giveaway & Autograph Session: All fans in attendance Wednesday night receive a Goldeyes second half team photo and can go on-field pre-game for a special autograph session with players and coaches!
Christmas in August: Tired of waiting for the most wonderful time of the year' Well, wait no more because the Goldeyes are bringing Christmas four months early! The first 2,000 fans in attendance Thursday will receive a special commemorative Goldeyes, Manitoba Hydro and Santa Claus Parade baseball ornament. There will be holiday songs and festivities throughout the game as well!
Fan Appreciation Night: It's the final home game of the regular season and Friday night we salute the fans with the biggest giveaway night of the season! The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a set of 2011 Goldeyes player cards! After the game, Archangel Fireworks will put on another spectacular show with the final fireworks show of the year!
