KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Sioux Falls Pheasants could not solve Kansas City T-Bones starter Reid Santos on Tuesday night, who dealt the Pheasants a 4-0 shutout to open a four-game series in Kansas City.

Santos (8-5) needed just 113 pitches in his first complete-game of the year, seeing five over the minimum and allowing four hits. The former Cleveland Indian farmhand walked one and struck out six.

Pheasants starter Ben Moore (12-4) lost his second-straight bid for a career-high 13th win. Moore gave up all four runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings while fanning six. Moore still leads all league starters with a 2.83 ERA and 141 strikeouts.

Kansas City scored all they would need with Ray Sadler's sacrifice fly in the third inning. Justin Snyder chipped in a solo home run in the fourth inning for a 2-0 advantage. The T-Bones rattled off three straight hits in the seventh inning, including an RBI, line-drive single to left from Gerardo Carceres with the Pheasants' infield drawn in. Keanon Simon followed with an RBI groundout to push the lead to 4-0.

Mark Shorey and Rob Lind each had a pair of hits. Lind, a Hartford resident, collected his first professional double in the sixth inning.

The Pheasants lost their eighth straight contest and dropped to 40-52.

Game two of the Pheasants' final road series of the year begins at 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 24. The game will be broadcast on Sioux Falls Sports Radio 1230-AM and www.kwsn.com.
