Motor City Mechanics News Release
The Mechanics played three games this past weekend earning 3 out of 6 points to begin the young season in first place in the UHL Central Division.
This past Friday the Mechanics beat the Missouri River Otters 5-2 on the road to notch their 13th consecutive regular season victory. The 13 wins in a row set a new UHL record for most consecutive regular season wins. The previous record of 12 wins in a row was held by three different teams.
Saturday night the streak ended but the Mechanics earned a point in a 4-3 shootout loss at Quad City. Sunday, the Mechanics lost to the Rockford Ice Hogs 4-2 at Rockford. Brent Gretzky joins Danton Cole's Mechanics team on Tuesday.
The Mechanics open at the "Garage" this Friday at 7:30pm against Kalamazoo on McDonald's Puck Night with a special guest appearance by Ronald McDonald. Friday's game also features the first intermission Youth Hockey Introductions and the Schwan's first intermission Ice Cream Toss. On Friday the Mechanics will also introduce their 2005-2006 McDonald's Warm-up Jerseys. The team will wear the McDonald's Warm-ups at all home and away games then auction them off at the end of the season to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Saturday, the Mechanics host the Port Huron Flags at 7:30pm. All fans will receive a free Mechanics Magnet Schedule courtesy of SVS Vision Optical Centers. One lucky fan at Saturday's game will also win a $ 400 Travel Voucher from Bob Neugebauer Travel.
