
Komets open with three-point weekend

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets started the 2005-06 season by splitting a double-header at Roanoke and taking a 3-point opening weekend. In Friday's season opener the Komets earned a point in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Vipers. Komet center Colin Chaulk and winger Danny Stewart scored goals in regulation. The Komets were outscored in the shootout 2-1 with Chaulk getting the lone Komet goal. Goalie Kevin St. Pierre stopped 26 of 28 shots in the match while the Komets directed 35 shots toward the Roanoke net.
Saturday the Komets grabbed a 5-4 win at Roanoke to cap a 3-point opening weekend. Winger Lance Galbraith, playing his first UHL season, scored 2 goals and added an assist. Chaulk also posted a goal and 2 assists for his 32nd 3-point night as a Komet. Chaulk's goal was his 100th UHL goal and the win was coach Greg Puhalski's 316th UHL victory. St. Pierre stopped 25 of 29 shots and logged his 6,000th minute as a Komet goalie while posting his 73rd Fort Wayne win.
Chaulk continues where he finished last season leading the Komets with 4 points (2g, 2a) after the 2 games played. The Komets will re-visit Roanoke for one more game Dec. 9.
This weekend the Komets travel in Michigan where they play at Muskegon Friday night, at Kalamazoo Saturday and at Port Huron Sunday.
The Komet's face the Motor City Mechanics Saturday night, Nov. 5 at 7:30 for the Fort Wayne franchise's 54th home opener in the only game scheduled for the Komets that weekend. The Komets will play a total of 38 home games this season with start times under the same arrangement as last year. Monday-Thursday and Saturday games faceoff at 7:30pm. Friday games start at 8pm and Sunday games will begin at 5pm.
Tickets on sale.....tickets for all 2005-06 Komet regular season home games are on sale at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Ticket prices range from $5.00 to $19.00. Komet Season Tickets are still on sale at the Komet office at 1010 Memorial Way in Fort Wayne, open Monday thru Friday 9am-5pm.
