Week 1 Recap

The 2005-06 United Hockey League season got underway and the Rockford IceHogs jumped out to their best start in club history. Rockford picked up three wins in three games over opponents from three different divisions to begin their seventh season in the Forest City. The IceHogs netted 15 goals in the first three contests and will now stare down three Western Division opponents in Week 2.

Transactions

-Defenseman Nathan Lutz was loaned to the Milwaukee Admirals on Wednesday, October 19.

-Defenseman Evgueni Nourislamov was returned to Rockford from the Admirals on Wednesday, October 19.

-Center Alex Kim was placed on the 7-Day Injured Reserve retro-active to Friday, October 21.

-Goaltender Michel Robinson was returned to Rockford from the Admirals on Sunday, October 23.

-Lutz was returned from the Admirals on Sunday, October 23.

Bacon Bits:

Rockford started 3-0-0 for the first time in club history.

The IceHogs penalty kill was 18-for-19 in the three weekend games, a 94.7% kill rate.

Center Olivier Proulx (2g-3a-5pts) and rookie winger Robin Big Snake (2g-3a-5pts) scored points in each of the Hogs first three games.

Rookies Big Snake, Chaz Johnson and Yannick Tifu all tallied their first professional goal over the weekend.

Rockford beat a team from each division in Week 1.

Winger Bruce Watson played in his 400 career game on Sunday against Motor City.

The Hogs improved to a perfect 4-0-0 at the Rockford MetroCentre against Motor City.

After Rockford's 6-5 win over Elmira on Opening Night, the Hogs improved their Opening Night record to 4-3.

Rockford had a club record 12 power play opportunities on Opening Night against Elmira, converting 2-of-12.

Hot Hog Week 1:

Winger Jason Notermann got off to a quick start on the 2005-06 season, netting 3g-3a-6pts over the three-game Week 1. Notermann tallied three points in both Friday and Saturday's IceHogs wins.

Upcoming Games:

Friday, October 28 vs. Missouri River Otters. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs and River Otters match-up for the second time this season. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive the first IceHogs Poster in a series of seven from Medicine Man, Johnson Press and Pepsi. Also, the Hogs will host their annual costume contest. Come dressed up for Halloween and you can win prizes from the IceHogs and then trick-or-treat with the players after the game.

Saturday, October 29 vs. Quad City Mallards. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. Rockford and Quad City renew one of the best rivalries in the UHL in the front end of a home-and-home series. The first 1,000 fans to the game will receive an IceHogs Pint Glass from the 10th Inning Bar and Grill.

Sunday, October 30 at Quad City Mallards. Game is slated for 1:00 p.m. The Hogs and Mallards home-and-home series shifts to Moline for a Sunday afternoon contest.

HogTalk Returns Tonight At Shooter's North:

HogTalk returns tonight at Shooter's North located at 7742 Forest Hills Road in Loves Park from 6:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. The show is hosted by WXRX's Jim Stone and Double T and features IceHogs Head Coach Steve Martinson each Monday. Also this week, Jason Notermann, Robin Big Snake and Yannick Tifu will be there to talk Hogs hockey and meet fans.

The IceHogs Broadcasting Network:

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all IceHogs Regular and Post Season games on Rockford's Voice, 1330 AM WNTA. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with the B2 Networks! Log onto the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the "click here to watch the game live" icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. New to the network this season is ESPN Radio "The Jock" 1380 AM. The Jock will broadcast 20 Hogs games during the regular season. Check your local listings. Also, fans with Insight Cable television can tune into Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season. The IceHogs broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 20 minutes before the puck drops. Make sure to give your opinion during the 10th Inning Bar and Grill Post-Game Call-In Show following each home game at (815) 874-8255.
