Adirondack Frostbite News Release
LAST WEEK:
Adirondack opened the season with a perfect 3-0-0 mark, sweeping three games against Richmond. The Frostbite are in first place of the Eastern Division with six points, three more than Danbury.
Friday, October 21 @ Richmond FROSTBITE 5 RiverDogs 3
The Frostbite scored three times in a 1:23 span midway through the first period, and after Kevin Watters' first professional goal at 10:26 of the second period, Adirondack held a 4-0 lead. Richmond launched a late second-period comeback, scoring twice late in the second, and again at 8:05 of the third. Solid play by Derek Gustafson kept the RiverDogs off of the board the rest of the way, and Blake Stewart sealed the deal, completing a hat trick with an empty-net goal with 23 seconds left.
Saturday, October 22 v. Richmond FROSTBITE 8 RiverDogs 3
Adirondack's offense went to work quickly in the home opener as Kevin Watters scored just 27 seconds into the game, and power-play tallies from Blake Stewart and David Ambler made it 3-0 just 3:08 into the game. After a pair of Warren Cooper goals cut the Frostbite lead to one, Mike Berry gave the Frostbite a two-goal lead after 20 minutes with his second of the season at 18:40. Opening the second period with three more goals, the Frostbite took a 7-2 lead, before Cooper added his third of the night for a 7-3 score after 40 minutes. Watters scored his third goal of the night at 10:32 of the third period to set the final.
Sunday, October 23 v. Richmond FROSTBITE 5 RiverDogs 2
Just as Saturday, the Frostbite offense wasted no time going to work. Lyon Porter scored his first professional goal 31 seconds into the contest, and tallies from Hugo Belanger and Blake Stewart made it 3-0 at the 4:44 mark. Richmond pulled within two before the end of the opening period on a Mike Oliviera tally. Adirondack went back up by two on a Kevin Watters shorthanded goal at 11:27 of the second. Oliviera answered with his second of the game at 14:21 of the third, but it was Sylvain Cloutier who ended any hope of a RiverDogs' comeback, scoring a power-play goal at 17:07 to set the final.
