Trenton Thunder News Release

One night after setting a season-high for runs scored in a home game with 11, the Thunder offense set a new season-high with 17 hits on their way to a 10-4 victory over the Altoona Curve in front of 6,937 fans on Friday night at ARM & HAMMER Park.

Altoona held early leads of 3-0 and 4-3, however, the Thunder offense broke a 4-4 tie with five runs in the bottom of the seventh inning. Dan Fiorito broke the tie with a two-run single to take the lead. Jake Cave and Ali Castillo added to the lead with run-scoring singles of their own off of Matt Benedict.

Gary Sanchez added his ninth home run of the season in the eighth inning to give the Thunder the final margin.

Every Thunder batter recorded a hit in the game and all except Jake Cave and Mark Payton scored a run. Seven batters recorded multi-hit games led by the second straight three-hit game for Danny Oh.

The Thunder bullpen of Conor Mullee, Cesar Vargas and Nick Goody held Altoona to just five hits over the final 6.2 innings. Goody struck out five batters in his two innings for the second straight appearance and lowered his ERA to a sparkling 1.55.

Over his last seven games Greg Bird has gone 11-for-26 (.423) with two 2B, one HR, six RBI and seven walks (.545 OBP). Jose Rosario extended his hit streak to nine games in which he has recorded 16 hits in 35 at-bats (.457).

Your Thunder will begin a six-game road trip to Reading and New Hampshire on Saturday night in Reading at 7:05. Pre-game coverage begins at 6:50 on 91.3 WTSR and online at Trentonthunder.com.
