
Doyle Does It Again

Akron, OH - Baysox starter Terry Doyle made it look easy. He foiled Akron throughout in a 94-pitch complete game two-hit shutout as the Baysox won the Friday night tilt 7-0. Doyle faced one batter more than the minimum in the dominant effort.
The complete game was the sixth thrown by a Baysox starter this year. Bowie had not had a complete game shutout since August of 2012, but now have had three in the last five weeks. The win split the series at two games apiece and lifted Bowie to a 4-2 roadtrip to Erie and Akron.
The Baysox grabbed the lead in the second inning. With the bases loaded and two down, 2B Corban Joseph grounded a single up the middle bringing home two runs. Joseph had four multi-hit games in the four-game series.
The lead swelled in the fifth inning. With two on and one down, RF Brandon Snyder laced a double to the wall in left field scoring both runs. DH David Freitas would then double home Snyder to up the advantage to 5-0. Bowie added two more runs in the eighth inning.
LF Quincy Latimore had a big night going 3-for-5 with a run and an RBI. SS Ozzie Martinez was 2-for-4 with a run scored as well.
Bowie returns home for a Fireworks Extravaganza on Saturday, July 4th as the Erie SeaWolves come to Prince George's Stadium at 6:35 p.m. RHP Elih Villanueva starts for the Baysox in the first of a six-game homestand.
