Akron RubberDucks News Release

The Bowie Baysox starter Terry Doyle throws a complete game, two-hit shutout against the Akron RubberDucks in a 7-0 loss Friday night at Canal Park.

Turning Point

A walk to David Freitas to open the second inning and two singles by Garabez Rosa and Ozzie Martinez to load the bases allowed Corban Joseph to score two on the Baysox third straight single in the top of the inning to take an early 2-0 lead.

Mound Presence

Shawn Morimando (5-8) pitched five innings and never seemed to find a good rhythm. Morimando surrendered nine hits and gave up five runs, seven of those hits were singles with two doubles. Doyle (8-1) went the distance and struck out eight Akron batters and did not allow a walk.

Duck Tales

Ryan Rohlinger and Ronny Rodriguez had the RubberDucks two lone hits. Rohlinger had the first hit of the game for Akron in the fourth inning before ending the inning himself when he got caught in a run down. Rodriguez collected the second hit in the eighth inning when he sent a two-out single to center.

Notes

This is the third time this season that Akron has only managed two hits, the last time was on April 12 against Binghamton. Bowie scored three runs in the fifth inning and two in the eighth inning to pull away from Akron. The RubberDucks sold out Canal Park for the fourth time this season with a RubberDucks' (2014-15) attendance record of 8,258.
