LAST TIME OUT: Columbia kicked off a pivotal series against the GreenJackets with a 2-1 victory on Tuesday night at Segra Park. Simeon Woods-Richardson (W, 3-8) hurled five scoreless innings and picked up his third win of the year. Bryce Hutchinson followed his lead with 2.2 shut-out frames while closer Allan Winans (S, 7) recorded his second straight four-out save. Woods-Richardson allowed only four hits on Tuesday. He fanned seven and didn't walk anyone. Over his last nine starts, the Mets prospect owns the league's fourth-lowest ERA (2.09). Woods-Richardson is also 3-2 with 53 strikeouts next to just 10 walks in those 43.0 innings of work.
WHAT'S AT STAKE: The Fireflies trail the GreenJackets and Rome Braves by two games in the standings, and can draw even with at least Augusta with a series sweep this week at Segra Park.
FAMILIAR FOE: Columbia is 6-5 vs. Augusta this season with all games decided by three runs or fewer. The season series has been extraordinarily close with the Fireflies scoring 34 totals runs to Augusta's 31. Over the last two seasons, Columbia is 19-17 against the GreenJackets, 25 of the 36 games have been decided by three runs or fewer and Augusta holds a razor thin total run advantage over the Fireflies, 119-118.
WHO CAN TAME THE 'JACKETS?: Now that Simeon Woods-Richardson is 2-0 against Augusta in two starts, it's Willy Taveras' turn to silence the GreenJackets bats. The righty has a 2.92 ERA against the club this year in 2 starts.
MOLINA'S MASHING: Gerson Molina doubled and scored both runs on Tuesday. The 23-year-old Cuban is on a four-game hit streak and better yet, has doubled in back to back games.
HITS ON HITS ON HITS: Ronny Mauricio is sixth in the South Atlantic League with 99 hits. The Mets prospect is on pace for 137 hits this season with Columbia, which would smash the single-season record of 111 set by J.C. Rodriguez in 2016.
GOING DEEP: The Fireflies have hit nine homers in their last nine games:
