Flint Firebirds News Release
Flint, Mich. - The Flint Firebirds commitment to making an impact on the Flint and Genesee County Community is in full swing this holiday season. The Firebirds are partnering with numerous non-profit organizations to give back to the community that has showed great support for the club in its inaugural season in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).
Starting this week, the Firebirds in partnership with Bubba O'Malley's, ELGA Credit Union, Michigan State Police, NBC25 and Cumulus Radio kicked off the "Stuff a Blue Goose" campaign benefiting Toys for Tots. Until Nov. 21, fans are encouraged to bring a new toy to the Firebirds Merchandise Store, valued at $10 or more, to receive a bronze level ticket to Saturday's game against the Barrie Colts compliments of Shaltz Automation. The Firebirds Store is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (ET). Throughout the game, proceeds from a 50-50 raffle, Chuck-A-Puck and program sales will benefit the campaign. Prior to the game, officers of the Michigan State Police will be in the Dort Federal Event Center lobby collecting donations and "Stuffing A Blue Goose."
The Firebirds are committed to giving back to the community that supports us," said Flint Firebirds President Costa Papista. "We are honored to be a new piece of the Flint and Genesee County Community fabric.
On Wednesday, Nov. 25, the Firebirds are teaming up with C&L Ward and Catholic Charities to support the "Stuff the Van" charity drive beginning 25 days of giving leading up to Christmas. The Firebirds will be collecting non-perishable food items, toiletries and winter wear at the Dort Federal Event Center starting on Nov. 22. Sponsored by The Hamo Group of Wells Fargo Advisors, Firebirds' fans can bring in three or more of these items to receive one free bronze level ticket to the Nov. 25contest against the club's rival, Saginaw Spirit.
Following a three game road trip, the Firebirds return back to Flint on Dec. 4th for a Friday night game against the Saginaw Spirit. It's Teddy Bear Toss Night! Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to the game or purchase one at the Dort Federal Event Center and when the Firebirds score their first goal, launch them onto the ice! The bears and their proceeds will benefit various local charities throughout Flint and Genesee County. In addition, compliments of Hap Insurance, all fans in attendance will also receive a free orange Flint Firebirds rally towel.
On Friday, December 11th, the Flint Firebirds and Old Newsboys of Flint are partnering for the team's inaugural ugly sweater jersey night as the Firebirds host the Mississauga Steelheads at 7:30 p.m. There will be a live jersey auction immediately following the game with proceeds from the auction, 50-50 raffle, Chuck-A-Puck and game program sales benefiting the Old Newsboys of Flint. Also, with Christmas right around the corner, children of all ages will have their chance to meet Santa Clause and get their picture taken throughout the duration of the game.
The Flint Firebirds want to wish all fans a healthy and happy holiday season!
