November 19, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Kitchener Rangers News Release

The Kitchener Rangers invite fans to showcase their generosity in the spirit of the holiday season at the 21st Annual Teddy Bear Toss Game on Tuesday, December 8th, 2015 when the Rangers host the Guelph Storm at 7pm.

Fans who attend are being asked to bring a new or gently loved teddy bear to throw onto the ice immediately following the Rangers' first goal of the game. They will then be collected and redistributed to less fortunate members of our community.

Again for the 2015-16 season, the Kitchener Rangers are partnering with Canadian Tire's Jumpstart program, a national charity dedicated to providing children from financially disadvantaged families with the opportunity to experience the benefits of organized sport and physical activity.

Teddy Bears will also be available before the December 8th game at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex. Anyone who is unable to attend the game and is interested in donating a new or gently loved Teddy Bear may drop them off at a local participating Canadian Tire stores before the game. All bears brought into stores will get to join in on the fun too, as they'll be brought to The Aud to be thrown onto the ice following the Rangers' first goal.

Liam Maaskant didn't make the 7,255 fans at The Aud wait very long to throw their bears last season, as the captain scored just 1:12 into the first period en route to a 7-4 win over the Erie Otters. Rangers fans once again set a new record in bears collected at 9,882 - surpassing the total of 9,645 from the year prior.

Over the last 20 years, Rangers fans have generously donated an incredible total of 111,554 bears for local charitable groups.

Teddy Bears will be available for pickup on a first come, first served basis in the Zamboni bay of The Aud on Wednesday, December 9th at 8am.
