Final 2003 Rainiers Homestand, Fireworks and Food Drive
August 28, 2003 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Tacoma Rainiers News Release
All good things must come to an end. And so it goes with the 2003 Tacoma Rainiers season. The Rainiers close out the season with a four game homestand against Salt Lake beginning Friday, August 29 and wrap up the season with an afternoon game on Labor Day. In this last homestand we'll have our final fireworks show of the year, host fan appreciation night, give away autographed baseballs, give fans a chance to take photos of players and pay fans to donate food in a food drive. That's a lot for a weekend but it should be fun for fans of all ages.
On FRIDAY we have Ki-Ya's Trading Post & Thunderbird Trading Post Friday Night FIREWORKS presented by Click! Network. It is also BECU Player Photo & Autograph Night. The first 1,500 fans will receive photos of both Chad Meyers and Pat Borders. The players will then be available for a limited time to sign the photos (from approximately 5:30 to 6:00)! That's not all. Friday is Fan Appreciation Night so we'll have drawings for prizes AND give out tons of promotional giveaways to fans in the stands throughout the game. Following the game will be another great fireworks display, our last of ten fireworks shows this season. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for this 7:05 p.m. game. Jeff Heaverlo is scheduled to take the mound for Tacoma.
We have a great, first time in Tacoma promotion on SATURDAY. Steven C. Schreiner, P.S. Attorney at Law presents Rainiers Autographed Baseball Night! Rainiers players have been hard at work autographing 1,500 baseballs that will be given away Saturday. Each ball will be autographed by a Rainiers player and will make a great collectible of the 2003 season. The first 1,500 fans will receive a random autographed ball as they enter the ballpark so get here close to the 5:30 p.m. gate time to make sure you get one. Game time is 7:05 p.m. Craig Anderson, who leads the Rainiers with 12 wins, is Tacoma's scheduled starter. Also on SATURDAY, we encourage fans to bring canned food items to the game. To support the FISH Food Banks of Pierce County, we will be taking donations of all non-perishable food items with an emphasis on baby food. Other needed food items include tuna, peanut butter, stew, chili, soups, canned fruits and vegetables, and macaroni and cheese. To encourage the food drive, the Rainiers will actually pay fans to bring food! The Rainiers will give fans one "Rainier Buck" for each food item they bring to the stadium. Each Rainier Buck is a $1.00 gift certificate that is good for any item at Cheney Stadium. There will be a maximum of ten Rainier Bucks given to each person.
On SUNDAY we have a 1:35 p.m. game. The first several hundred fans through the gate will receive either a FUJI Camera or a prepaid phone card. Players will then be available for photos on the field so bring your camera or get here early for an opportunity to receive a free disposable camera. Gates open at noon.
The 2003 season comes to an end on MONDAY with a 1:35 holiday afternoon game. Come out to Cheney Stadium to enjoy a nice sunny afternoon at the ballpark. Gates into the stadium open at noon.
To purchase tickets for any of these games, stop by the ticket office or call us at 253-752-7700. Adult ticket prices are only $5-12. Children, seniors and military each receive a $1 discount off of those prices. Additional information can also be found at www.tacomarainiers.com.
