
RedHawks close 2003 season with more giveaways

The Oklahoma RedHawks will pull the curtain on the 2003 baseball season with a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs beginning Friday, Aug. 29 at SBC Bricktown Ballpark. The RedHawks (69-70) have eyes on a ".500 finish" or better for the third consecutive year and for the fifth time in six years.
Oklahoma, who trails the season series with the Iowa 7-5, hopes to play a spoiler role in their Cubs' playoff chances. Iowa (68-70) is only three games off the lead in the PCL's Central Division.
Friday, Aug. 29 - Oklahoma Army National Guard Night. The first 2,500 fans will receive an Oklahoma Army National Guard T-shirt. The 145th Army Honor Band will perform musical numbers before, during and after the game. Special military vehicles and displays will be located on the entrance plazas and concourse. In addition the final OHSO Autograph Night will take place with selected RedHawks players signing autographs along the third base concourse from 6 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 30 - Oklahoma Ford Dealers Truck Giveaway and Ruben Sierra Bobblehead Giveway. A 2003 Ford Explorer Sports Trac will be given away to one lucky fan as part of the season-long Great Summer Ford Truck Giveaway sponsored by the Oklahoma Ford Dealers and the Twister 101.9 FM. Ruben Sierra Bobblehead Dolls will be given to the first 2,500 fans. Sierra, a former Texas Ranger star and currently playing with the New York Yankees, is depicted in a RedHawk uniform representing his playing days with the Oklahoma club. Gates open at 6 p.m. with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 31 - Country Crock Family Fun Day featuring the Sonic Kids Fest. Fans can bring an original receipt showing proof-of-purchase of a Country Crock item and receive two-for-one admission. Inflatables and entertainers will be scattered throughout the ballpark. Kids can run the bases after the game. Gates open at 6 p.m. with the first pitch set for 7:05 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 1 - IGA Hometown Kids Day and Recovery Coalition Cap and Baseball Card Set Giveway. Kids get free admission and a hot dog and Coca-Cola product for $2 with their IGA Hometown Kids Card. The Recover Coalition, an agency dedicated to the education efforts of drug and alcohol abuse, will give out 2,500 "Recovery Happens" caps and a special RedHawk baseball card set. The baseball cards will feature selected Redhawk players with messages promoting awareness of drug and alcohol abuse.
