Gettis does in Express
August 28, 2003 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Round Rock Express News Release
Every one of the five runs that Byron Gettis drove in Wednesday night hurt the Round Rock Express. However, it was the last one that hurt the most.
Gettis drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth to give the Wichita Wranglers a 5-4 win in front of 1,217 at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Michael Rosamond looked like he could be the hero for Round Rock after he blasted a game tying home run in the top of the ninth off of Jorge Vasquez. However, that was negated when Gettis singled off of Cheyenne Janke in the bottom of the inning to end the game and the road schedule for the Express.
Mitch Meluskey also hit his first home run with Round Rock and Carlos Hernandez went 3 for 5.
Santiago Ramirez actually started the game for the Express, pitching the opening inning for his fist action since June.
Vasquez (3-1) got the win and Jory Coughenour (2-5) was saddled with the loss.
Round Rock will return home Thursday for the final four games of the season. Game one against the San Antonio Missions will start at 7:05 p.m.
