Edmonton Trappers News Release

The Montreal Expos today optioned left-handed pitcher Eric Knott to Triple-A Edmonton and purchased the contract of left-handed pitcher Vic Darensbourg from Edmonton. The Expos also assigned outright left-handed pitcher Anthony Ferrari to Edmonton. Vice President and General Manger Omar Minaya made the announcements.

Darensbourg went 3-3 with a 2.97 ERA in 31 Pacific Coast League games this season for Edmonton and Colorado Springs. He was 1-1 with a 1.98 ERA in 11 games for the Trappers at the time of the promotion.

Darensbourg is 7-15 with a 4.96 ERA (147 ER/267.0 IP) in 274 career big league games, all of which have come in relief. The 32-year-old pitched in three games out of the bullpen for Colorado earlier this season, allowing one unearned run in 2.1 innings. He signed with the Expos as a minor league free agent on July 28.

In parts of six major league seasons, Darensbourg has limited opposing left-handed batters to a .230 (95-for-413) mark. He will wear jersey No. 45.

Knott, 28, is 1-2 with a 5.12 ERA in 13 games (one start) for Montreal this season.
