Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, IA - The Dubuque Fighting Saints (24-9-2-3, 53 pts) host the Chicago Steel (15-17-2-2, 34 pts) in their first meeting of the season on Friday night.

Here are five things to know ahead of the matchup:

1. Blackout Blitz

Friday will be the first 'Blackout' game in Fighting Saints history where fans and the team will be dressed in all black. After debuting their new alternate black jerseys at last week's Frosty Cup, the Saints return home to wear them one more time on Friday night.

Fans can take home their own game-worn black jersey at a post-game auction on Friday night.

2. Only Overtime

The Saints split two overtime games in Texas at the Frosty Cup against Sioux Falls, with Michael Barron scoring the overtime-winner on Jan. 26. The Fighting Saints are 4-2 in games decided in overtime this season.

Barron's tally was the first game-winner of his career. Seven Saints have scored multiple game-winning goals so far this season.

3. Saints Shorty

James Reeder scored the fourth Saints short-handed goal of the season in Friday's overtime win against the Stampede. His goal started the Saints' comeback after falling behind 2-0 in the game.

The Saints penalty kill is second in the USHL, stopping opposing power plays at an 83.5% rate. In their last 10 games, the Saints have killed 27 of 31 opposing power plays, an 87.1% rate. The penalty kill has not allowed a goal in the last three contests, going 7-for-7 in that stretch.

4. Fifty First Points

Jake Sondreal's four points last week extended his league-leading point total to 50. In a nine-game point streak, the captain has three goals and 13 assists.

His 33 helpers are the most in the league as well. Sondreal has 10 multi-point efforts in the last 20 contests.

5. Steel Stage

The Steel started the season with just two wins in its first 12 games, but is 13-9-1-1 since. Chicago also has a 7-1-1-1 record in the last 10 games.

Reigning USHL Goaltender of the Week Louka Cloutier mans the net for Chicago, having started seven-straight games. Cloutier has won five of those games and has a .916 save percentage over that span.

Friday's 'Blackout' begins at 7:05 p.m. CST and tickets can be found Here. The game can be found on Eagle 102.3 and FloHockey
