SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - The Herd fell 7-2 in its We Hate Winter face-off with the Fargo Force. Tyler Borgula and Micah Berger both netted goals, while goaltender Michael Chambre made 25 saves. The tide was just not in their favor, though. The Stampede moved to 21-16-3-1 on the season and maintained the third spot in the Western Conference with 46 points.

The Stampede looked to take down the leader of the Western Conference, but Fargo shut down their hopes early. The away team struck seven minutes into the first period with a goal from Iiro Hakkarainen. Ten minutes later the Force added to their tally when Jake Fischer slipped one past goaltender Michael Chambre. Heading to the locker room, the Herd looked to bounce back from the two-goal deficit.

The second period demonstrated more Fargo dominance. Jake Fischer earned his second of the night at 5:26 of the second period, giving Fargo a 3-0 lead. The Herd finally got on the board when Tyler Borgula netted a shot from between the faceoff circles. He was assisted by teammates Beckett Hendrickson and JJ Wiebusch. The Force struck again after the Stampede found themselves on a 5-on-3 penalty kill. After returning to 5-on-4, the Force tallied another power-play goal sending the Stampede into intermission with a 5-1 deficit.

The third period saw more of the same action. The Force's Zam Plante and Tom Leppa both found the back of the net to earn extra points. Micah Berger cut the Herd's deficit by sending one past goaltender Hampton Slukynsky, off passes from teammates JJ Wiebusch and Noah Eyre. That goal would wrap up tonight's action, sealing the 7-2 loss for the Herd.

Goaltender Michael Chambre blocked 25 of 32 shots earning him a .781 save percentage on the night. His record is now 15-7-2-1 with a 3.34 goals-against average and a .883 save percentage.

The Herd will be back at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center tomorrow night for a 6:05 pm puck drop to close out this series against the Force. Tomorrow night the first 1,000 fans through the doors will get a Stampede lunch box thanks to Kwik Star. The club is also asking fans to bring jars of peanut butter and jelly to benefit Feeding South Dakota. Tickets for all Stampede home games are available now through the KELOLAND box office, Stampede office, or any Ticketmaster outlets.
