Fightin Phils Surpass Attendance Mark from Last Season
August 29, 2013 - Eastern League (EL1)
Reading Fightin Phils News Release
READING, Pa.---With one game still remaining in the 2013 season, the Reading Fightin Phils Eastern League attendance stands at a league-leading 428,520 fans. That number exceeds the total of 426,623 fans welcomed in 2012 at America's Classic Ballpark, FirstEnergy Stadium.
The Reading Fightin Phils also extended their record streak of drawing at least 400,000 fans at FirstEnergy Stadium to sixteen straight seasons, the most consecutive seasons ever for a Double-A franchise.
"We thank the fans for helping us get here. We thank them for making Baseballtown and FirstEnergy Stadium the wonderful place they are," said Fightin Phils General Manager Scott Hunsicker. "Our staff looks forward to celebrating with our fans at the final home game of the season tonight."
Through 68 openings in 2013, Reading is averaging 6,302 fans per game. Along with Richmond and Frisco, the Fightins are one of only three Double-A teams in the nation to average more than 6,000 fans per game.
Fans only have one more chance to see the Fightin Phils in 2013 when they host the Richmond Flying Squirrels in the home season finale. Tickets for the final home game of the 2013 season at FirstEnergy Stadium are available by visiting Fightins.com, calling the Fightin Phils Ticket Office at 610-370-BALL, or by visiting the Fightin Phils Ticket Office in person at FirstEnergy Stadium.
