Fernholm re-assigned from Wheeling

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned defenseman Daniel Fernholm from the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, it was announced Tuesday.

Fernholm, 21, has three points (2+1) and 18 penalty minutes in 18 games with Wheeling so far this season. He was assigned to the Nailers on October 13, after going scoreless in one game with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

The native of Stockholm, Sweden was selected in the fourth round (101st overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft by the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The Penguins, who have the best record in the AHL at 20-0-2-1, return to action this weekend when they host the Manitoba Moose on Friday and Saturday at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza. The first 5,000 fans at Friday's game will receive a free Penguins ski cap.
