Cleveland Barons News Release
CLEVELAND, OH - Josh Hennessy?s two-point performance was not enough as the Barons fell to Toronto, 4-2 on Tuesday night. John Pohl scored the game-winning goal for the Marlies giving them their third win in a row.
An evenly played first period of hockey ended in a scoreless tie as both goaltenders looked confident between the pipes. Dimitri Patzold made his third consecutive appearance in net for the Barons searching for his first home win this year. For the Marlies, JF Racine made his 15th appearance of the year. The Barons out-shot Toronto 12-11 through the opening twenty minutes of play.
The two teams combined for five second period goals in an explosion of offense. Mike Iggulden started the barrage with his ninth goal of the season for Cleveland and a 1-0 lead. Josh Hennessy and Matt Carkner assisted on the goal. Unfortunately for the Barons they would not score again until the final two minutes of the period following three consecutive scores from Toronto. Jeremy Williams, Ian McNeil and John Pohl scored for the Marlies for a 3-2 lead after forty minutes of play. Pohl?s goal extended his scoring streak to six games. The Barons closed out the period with a goal from Hennessy on assists from Lukas Kaspar and Josh Gorges.
The Barons come-from-behind bid fell short as the Marlies scored the only third period goal for a 4-2 win. Tyler Beechey scored his first goal of the season from Colin Murphy and Brad Brown at the 4:28 mark to close out the night?s scoring.
Friday night the same two teams meet in the back end of a home-and-home series with a 7:30 match up at Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto. The game will be broadcast live via the B2 Networks in both a video and audio feed. Links for the broadcast are available at the Barons official web site, www.clevelandbarons.net.
