Los Angeles, CA - FC Dallas (7-5-5, 26 points) falls 3-1 to LAFC (11-3-3, 36 points) on Wednesday night at Banc of California Stadium.

LEADING SCORER

Forward Jesús Ferreira scored his 10th goal of the season to become the outright top scorer in MLS. With 14 overall goal contributions this season (10 goals, four assists), Ferreira is just one shy of his previous career-high of 15 in 2021 (nine goals, eight assists).

MATT HEDGES 25,000 MINUTES

Defender Matt Hedges passed 25,000 career minutes played 58 minutes into tonight's match. Hedges ranks eighth among active MLS players and first in club history.

Overall thoughts on the game...

"I think we had a really good first half playing away against the best team in the league. We created a lot of chances to score, especially for playing away. We kept possession and combined transition attacks with long build ups that arrived to good points. The goal they scored and the chances they had were our mistakes. We made some mistakes, and they had a goal that we didn't defend well in transition, we were three against one and we should've avoided that situation there. Overall, we had a great first half playing away, and we created a number of opportunities. In the second half, we lost some of the long build ups and we rushed too much to try to get through them. Also, we were trying to build out of our half instead of bringing the ball into their half to keep possession and control the game more and make them run. We should've closed the middle down better on their second goal and not let them play through by being more compact on the right side. But we had a good response, and when we were controlling the game, we were dangerous and gave them problems."

On Jesús Ferreira's progression...

"So far, he's doing a good job, but we've talked to him and he has this mentality too: we want to be better every single day. Score more goals, have more participation in the game. He's doing well so far, and we see a lot of potential and he wants to be pushed to be better. That's a perfect combination, we can be happy with what he's doing and keep pushing him to be even better."

On returning to Los Angeles...

"Obviously coming back, I already knew some of the guys and the fans but first and foremost my mentality was always with the team. We came down here for business and we couldn't accomplish what we wanted. We didn't come here to tie. We came here to win and we couldn't accomplish it. We know they have a lot of talent and we showed that we can compete. There are little details that we need to clean up in the final third and defensively."

On the takeaways from the match...

"Our objective here was to come and get three points. We know that we're a team that can compete against them who also have talent and like to play with the ball. And that's what we tried. So now, obviously we didn't complete the objective, but we keep working on it for the rest of the season."

Forward Jesús Ferreira

On his goal tonight...

"The team is upset, and we knew this was an important game to pick up some points. We knew it was a difficult game because we were playing the best team in the league. We can take some positives out of this. We play at home next week, and this game helps us realize where we are at. We are not at the level we want to be, but there are a lot of positives to take from that. In the first half we were all over them, and that shows we can come out and play against any team. We take back the positives back home and we will train on the things we need to improve on. We will be ready for our next game on Monday."

On his stronger abilities...

"I am sticking and adapting to the role the coaches want me to play. I am happy that my teammates have been able to put me in situations where I can score some goals. We have an identity to be a pressing team that never stops running. A lot of teams have noticed that we will press them till the end of the game. We want to be that team that recovers the ball back and scores right away. We want to be the team that keeps the ball too, but pressing the opponents intimidates them more."
