FC Dallas News Release
FRISCO, Texas - FC Dallas will face Sporting Kansas City, Atlanta United FC and Orlando City SC as teams continue match play in local markets. MLS will announce the remainder of the 2020 regular season schedule at a later date.
FC Dallas will travel to Children's Mercy Park to face Sporting Kansas on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 2:30PM CT for the second time this season. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw on Sept. 2. Dallas will also face Atlanta United FC at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 6PM CT. Dallas earned its first win at Mercedes-Benz Stadium last season following a 2-1 win on April 20.
FC Dallas will host Orlando City SC in a match presented by UnitedHealthcare on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 7:30PM CT. FC Dallas will look for its first win against former head coach Oscar Pareja following a 2-0 loss to The Lions at Exploria Stadium last season.
FC Dallas' match vs. Sporting Kansas City on Sept. 19 will air nationally on Univision. Matches not aired nationally by a U.S, English-language network will be streamed live in English on Twitter. Broadcast details for the other two matches will be announced in the near future.
MLS also announced today the qualification details and the competition format for the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs. The Audi MLS Cup Playoffs will again consist of single-elimination matches hosted by the higher-seeded team and follow a straight bracket format through MLS Cup on Dec.12.
As previously announced, in an expansion of the postseason for 2020, 18 clubs will compete in the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs. Eight teams from the 12-team Western Conference will qualify directly to Round 1. The top six seeds from the 14-team Eastern Conference will qualify directly to Round 1. Eastern Conference seeds 7-10 will each compete in a play-in match (No. 7 vs. No. 10, and No. 8 vs. No. 9) to determine the two additional Eastern Conference teams that will qualify for the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs Round 1.
The lower-seeded advancing team will face the Eastern Conference No. 1 seed in Round 1, while the higher-seeded advancing team will face the Eastern Conference No. 2 seed.
The Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs schedule and broadcast details will be announced at a later date.
FC Dallas (2-2-4, 10 points) hosts Texas Derby rival Houston Dynamo (3-2-5, 14 points) on Saturday, Sept. 12 at 7:30PM CT. The match, presented by Toyota, will air on TXA21, FCDTV Network, TUDN 1270AM and FCDallas.com/Radio. It will also be streamed on FCDallas.com/Stream.
